The June 24 Y Walk Wednesday is titled The Canals of Wilkes-Barre. Walk leader Joe Butkiewicz, Board Member of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, will explain how, before railroads, canals connected the Wyoming Valley with the rest of America. Learn about local canals, and the industry and society they built.

Y Walk Wednesdays are free evening walks featuring downtown history, walking and health, architecture, natural areas and new development in Wilkes-Barre. Walks begin promptly at 6:00 pm leaving the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA lobby, 40 West Northampton St. Walks are approximately 90 minutes long and led by volunteer leaders. Registration not required.
