Three educational institutions anchor Downtown Wilkes-Barre.

King's College

King’s College is a Catholic, comprehensive college in the liberal arts tradition founded in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame.

Located on an urban campus in Downtown Wilkes-Barre, the College offers 57 undergraduate and graduate programs, over 50 clubs and activities, and 28 NCAA Division III athletic teams, all of which provide ample opportunity for students to deepen their educational experience and develop skills for both a meaningful career and life.

Wilkes University is a small university providing big opportunities. We have about 2,500 undergraduate students on Wilkes' downtown campus, so classmates know each other, and their professors, by name.

In addition, Wilkes offers master’s degree programs and doctoral/terminal degree programs including the doctor of nursing practice, doctor of education, doctor of pharmacy, doctor of philosophy in nursing and master of fine arts in creative writing.

The Economist ranked Wilkes University 25th in the nation for economic value, proving that a Wilkes degree pays dividends to graduates’ salaries and careers.
