Sunsets on SOMA returns to downtown WB with live music, local brews, good vibes

WILKES-BARRE — The Diamond City Partnership (DCP) invites the community to Midtown Village, 41 S. Main St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, for an evening of live music, cold drinks, and good company during Sunsets on SOMA — a free outdoor happy hour in the heart of downtown.

This month’s featured entertainment is South Side Five, a Western swing, trad-jazz group hailing from Scranton — Roy Williams, guitar; Mike Williams, guitar; Nick Driscoll, sax/clarinet; Ian O’Hara, bass; A.J. Jump, drums.

Grab a drink from Susquehanna Brewing Company, kick back in festive outdoor seating, and challenge your friends to a game of cornhole as the sun sets over South Main Street.

Sunsets on SOMA is part of DCP’s ongoing Downtown Rebound initiative, designed to bring energy, culture and community back into Wilkes-Barre’s core — and support the small businesses that make it unique.

This concert will be the last of the 2025 season.

“We invite everyone to come out for this free concert and happy hour, and then stick around to enjoy dinner at one of our many amazing downtown restaurants,” said Shelby Gushka, marketing and event coordinator at DCP. “Sunsets on SOMA is more than just a night out — it’s a celebration of everything that makes Downtown Wilkes-Barre vibrant and welcoming.”

This event is proudly presented by Geisinger, with additional support from Visit Luzerne County and Susquehanna Brewing Company.
