Sunsets on SOMA returns to downtown WB with live music, local brews, good vibes

WILKES-BARRE — The Diamond City Partnership (DCP) invites the community to Midtown Village at 41 S. Main St. in Wilkes-Barre from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday for an evening of live music during Sunsets on SOMA — a free outdoor happy hour in the heart of downtown.

Sunsets on SOMA is part of DCP’s ongoing Downtown Rebound initiative, designed to bring energy, culture and community back into Wilkes-Barre’s core — and support the small businesses that make it unique, organizers said.

The series runs through September, on the third Thursday of each month, with upcoming dates on Aug. 21 and Sept. 18.

“We invite everyone to come out for this free concert and happy hour, and then stick around to enjoy dinner at one of our many amazing downtown restaurants,” said Shelby Gushka, Marketing & Event Coordinator at DCP. “Sunsets on SOMA is more than just a night out — it’s a celebration of everything that makes Downtown Wilkes-Barre vibrant and welcoming.”

This event is presented by Geisinger, with additional support from Visit Luzerne County and Susquehanna Brewing Company.

This month’s featured entertainment Sunsets on SOMA is Gracie Jane Sinclair and the Band, a dynamic group guaranteed to light up the evening. The band features lead singer Gracie Jane Sinclair, Ben Roper on bass, Chuck Grabosky on drums, Jennifer Hunter on piano and Frank Marcinkowski on lead guitar.

Gracie Jane Sinclair & The Band deliver an authentic blend of soft rock and country, rooted in heartfelt songwriting and rich, melodic grooves. The band’s original music carries a nostalgic yet fresh energy — balancing smoky vocals with warm harmonies and soulful instrumentation. Based in Northeast Pennsylvania, the five-piece band creates an inviting, emotionally charged live experience that leaves audiences feeling connected, uplifted and deeply moved, Sunsets on SOMA organizers said.

Event organizers encourage you to grab a drink from Susquehanna Brewing Company, kick back in festive outdoor seating and challenge your friends to a game of cornhole as the sun sets over South Main Street.
