Details
This 1887 church is one of the greatest High Victorian Gothic structures in Wilkes-Barre. German-born architect William Schickel created a building whose details, such as the triple-entried frontispiece, or westwerk, and the single central tower, are typically German. For decades, people in central Wilkes-Barre set their watches, went to lunch, and closed shop by the clock on its steeple. The church’s beautiful interior woodcarvings and stained glass windows merit your visit.
