Details
This small park serves as an outdoor memorial commemorating the anthracite coal miners who toiled in Northeastern Pennsylvania's coal fields, and the approximately 1,600 miners who lost their lives.
Plaques document the region's mining disasters, and a separate monument bears the names of 40 anthracite miners who received the Carnegie Medal between 1904 and 1964 for extraordinary acts of heroism as they risked their lives to save others.
