Details
Beautiful Kirby Park, directly across the river from Downtown Wilkes-Barre, is one of the region’s most significant recreational resources. Donated to the City of Wilkes-Barre by the Kirby Family, the park welcomes hundreds of thousands each year.
The 52-acre section of the park on the landward side of the levee includes a pond, tennis courts, a fitness trail, walking paths, a running track, softball fields, volleyball courts, pavilions, and an accessible playground.
The Kirby Park Natural Area, a 65-acre riparian forest bisected by the Olmsted Loop Trail, sits on the river side of the levee.
