A strapping Irish-American boxer (John Wayne) returns to the village of his birth to forget a tragic event in his prizefighting past and falls in love with the feisty Colleen (Maureen O’Hara), the sister of a “big, bellowing bully” who hates him for purchasing property he himself had his eye on.
