Details
An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. for ‘40 Below: A Collection of Original Work From the Area’s Best Whipper-Snappers,’ a group exhibition at Marquis Art & Frame’s 2nd Floor Gallery in downtown Wilkes-Barre, as part of this month’s Third Friday Art Walk. Admission is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
The exhibition is a true collaboration featuring a diverse group of contemporary artists working across styles and media, including Kay Bruch, Joseph Dillon, Shelby Ford, Dustin Goff, Keith Kratz, Charli Lenz, Clara Levesque, Laken Owen, Kyle Stratton, and Rachel Lucille Woodworth.
Unlike traditional group shows, 40 Below embraces variety over uniformity. The exhibition is intentionally un-themed, offering a raw and honest snapshot of what young artists in the region are producing right now. Works include everything from large-scale abstract interpretations of Mr. Peanut, to intricately burned animal portraiture on wood, and digital figurative drawings.
“There are no rules -- just a whole lot of talent packed into one space!” the group of artists stated in their official announcement.
The show will remain on view through July 18.
