Tony award winning writer Stephen Karam—author of The Humans, Sons of the Prophet, and Speech & Debate—will visit King’s College for a free public presentation, question and answer session, and book signing on Nov. 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Burke Auditorium.

Karam wrote and directed his first feature film for A24, The Humans, which released in 2021 and stars Richard Jenkins, Amy Schumer, Steven Yeun, Beanie Feldstein, June Squibb, and Jayne Houdeyshell. He also wrote the film adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull starring Annette Bening, Saoirse Ronan, and Elisabeth Moss. 

He is an OBIE Award winner and a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist. Recent honors include two Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Awards, as well as a Lucille Lortel Award, Drama League Award, and Hull-Warriner Award. 

Karam is a graduate of Brown University and grew up in Scranton, Pa.

The event is the College’s latest offering in its Visiting Writer series and is free and open to the public. It will be hosted in the Burke Auditorium on the first floor of the McGowan School of Business on 131 N. River St. in Wilkes-Barre. Visitors can park in lots off the cul-de-sac accessed from N. Franklin St.
