“Funny Girl” marks the movie debut of Barbra Streisand, who reprises her starring role from the Broadway production that inspired the film. Streisand portrays Fanny Brice, a real-life Broadway performer who was active in the early 20th century, as she navigates a relationship with businessman and gambler Nick Arnstein.
The film was nominated for eight Academy awards, including a win in the Best Actress category for Streisand.
