Wilkes-Barre City Mayor George C. Brown has announced that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recording artist John Oates will be the headline performer for the City of Wilkes-Barre’s 3rd FREE Summer Concert on Public Square, on Saturday, August 23rd. The evening will begin with a to-be-announced local performer at 7 PM. John Oates will take the stage at 8 PM.

The public is welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets to Public Square or even enjoy the concert while dining outdoors at one of our wonderful downtown restaurants. Food vendors will be available on Public Square, in addition to the numerous downtown dining options.

John Oates Biography

John Oates is celebrating 25 years as an accomplished solo recording artist. This year he will be releasing his tenth project the self-titled album “OATES”.

As co-founder of the most successful duo in rock history Hall & Oates, he is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The American Songwriters Hall of Fame, recipient of the prestigious BMI Icon Award as well as numerous American Music, MTV awards and multiple Grammy nominations.

Oates has been part of pop music history’s most icon moments; the groundbreaking “We Are The World charity session, headlining the Live Aid concert and more recently is very active with various philanthropic organizations such as Feeding America, Movember, and Teen Cancer America among others.

In addition to having sold over 80 million albums as part of Hall & Oates…He has recorded 8 solo albums: Phunk Shui; 1000 Miles of Life; Mississippi Mile; The Bluesville Sessions; Good Road to Follow; Arkansas; Live from Nashville and Reunion.

He is currently touring the world with his GOOD ROAD BAND and Acoustic Quartet performing his past hits as well as selections of influential music he calls “the songs that made me” from the early days of rock, soul, folk and R&B.
