Flames across the vast eternal sky.'

These beautiful words from a poem by Charles Sylvestri close 'Across the Vast Eternal Sky' by contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo that will be performed as part of The Choral Society of Northeast Pennsylvania's second Spring 2024 concert on the theme of ELEMENTAL ECHOES, led by guest conductor Dr. Daniel Hall, the Director of Choral Music at Wyoming Seminary. Please join us Sunday, April 28th at 3 PM in the beautiful, reverberative sanctuary of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 35 South Franklin Street in Wilkes-Barre for this program of eight short choral works that explore The Four Elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

In addition to the Ola Gjeilo piece, the program includes Renaissance polyphony in works by Orlando Lassus and Thomas Morley; 'At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners' by Willametta Spenser; 'Chindia' based on a Romanian folk dance by Alexandru Pascanu; 'Lament for Pasiphae' by Morten Lauridsen; 'Shall We Gather at the River', a traditional hymn arranged by Dr. Hall; and 'Let the River Run', the theme from the motion picture 'Working Girl' by Carly Simon. Admission to the concert is FREE for all, a free-will offering will be taken and there will be a reception in the church after the concert.
