Details

One of the great romantic dramas from Hollywood’s Golden Age, with one of Bette Davis’s finest performances. Davis plays a wealthy repressed  young woman who frees herself from a domineering mother with the help of a wise and benevolent psychiatrist (Claude Rains). Her transformation is complete when she falls in love with a kindred spirit, played by Paul Henreid. (“Don’t let’s ask for the moon. We have the stars.”)

One Friday each month, the Kirby Center showcases a classic movie on the big screen. Each showing includes an on-screen introduction by Flashback Cinema host and Northeastern Pennsylvania native John Hersker, providing historical background on the films.

The series features two showings of each film, first at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on the same Friday. Tickets for matinee films are only $3, while evening films are just $5.
